SPORTS SHORTS: MHS basketball putting on girls clinic

The Marshalltown girls basketball team is hosting a free basketball clinic for girls in the area who want to learn the ropes from some high school players.

The clinic is open to all girls third through sixth grade, and the action will take place in the Roundhouse. The first clinic date is set for Nov. 12, and the second will happen on Nov. 18. The schedule for both days will have the third and fourth grade girls playing from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and the fifth and sixth grade girls going from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Husky wrestling tourney

NASHUA — Next Saturday, the Nashua-Plainfield High School wrestling team will host its Little Husky Wrestling Tournament, open to wrestlers from kindergarten through seventh grade.

Early registration fees for the tournament are $15, while walk-in fees will be $18. The tournament will be a four-man, round robin format, with first place receiving a trophy and second through fourth place taking home a medal. Weigh ins start at 8 a.m. for the kindergarten through second graders, with wrestling action starting at 9 a.m.
