UNI’s Kuhter collects 2nd-team honors from MVFC

Sam Kuhter

ST. LOUIS — Northern Iowa punter Sam Kuhter collected his third all-Missouri Valley Football Conference honor in as many years, earning second-team honors for the second time as announced Monday by the league.

Kuhter, a redshirt senior and 2013 South Tama Country graduate from Toledo, is averaging 42.6 yards per punt as the Panthers prepare for the second round of the Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs. In 64 attempts, Kuhter had 22 punts land inside the opponents’ 20-yard-line with only one touchback. Thirteen of his punts covered 50 yards or more, and 23 of his kicks were fair caught.

Kuhter was a second-team all-MVFC selection as a sophomore and an honorable mention selection last season.

Southern Illinois sophomore Lane Reazin was the first-team punter after averaging 43.6 yards per attempt.
