MCC women dropped by seventh-ranked Kirkwood

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Marshalltown Community College women’s basketball team lost a road matchup with NJCAA Division II No. 7 Kirkwood Community College on Wednesday, falling 75-43 to the Eagles.

MCC (5-7) trailed Kirkwood 51-18 at the half, but outscored the Eagles 21-11 out of halftime before falling in the fourth quarter 13-4.

Alyssa Roth led the Tigers with 15 points, while Loralei Siliga had seven points and nine rebounds.

What really did MCC in was Kirkwood’s ability to capitalize on turnovers, as the Eagles (8-2) scored 35 points off Tiger giveaways.

MCC is back in action on Saturday when it travels to Fort Dodge to take on Iowa Central.
