MHS boys swim knocks out Hoover

The Marshalltown boys swimming team rolled to a comfortable win over Des Moines Hoover in their final dual meet before heading out for winter break, taking down the Huskies 96-37.

The Bobcats won eight of a possible 11 events on the day, with Des Moines Hoover only winning the 100-yard backstroke and 400 freestyle relay, and they took at least first and second in seven of the races.

Chris Streets won the 100 freestyle, Jacob Eberle the 200 individual medley, Caleb Summers won the 50 freestyle, Gage Petty the 100 butterfly, Nash Perish the 100 freestyle, and Tyler Downey the 500 freestyle.

Marshalltown won both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relays as well, with Petty, Ryne Downey, Summers and Barkema combining for the medley win and Streets, Brock Keeler, Ethan Benscoter and Carson Beals combining for the freestyle victory.
