MHS girls tripped up by Trojans

WATERLOO — The Marshalltown girls basketball team lost its first game of the season on Thursday when it traveled to Waterloo East.

A 22-point deficit at the end of the first quarter proved too much for the Bobcats to overcome, as they fell to the Trojans 56-43.

After entering halftime down 38-16, MHS actually won the second half, turning in a 17-point quarter to close out the game.

Alyvia Chadderdon led the Bobcats in scoring with 14 points, followed by Erica Johnson with 11 and Grace Metzger with 10. Johnson also pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss, good for her first double-double of the season, and Chadderdon had five assists.
