MHS’ Mazour garners fourth all-conference nod
For the fourth consecutive year, Marshalltown’s Regan Mazour was named first-team all-conference after earning unanimous selection to the all-CIML Iowa squad for the second year in a row.
Mazour was one of five unanimous first-team selections to this fall’s eight-player squad. Fellow Bobcat senior outside hitter Ciara Feldman earned first-team recognition for the first time, gaining a promotion from last year’s second team.
Mazour, who eclipsed 1,000 career kills and digs, was a two-time unanimous first-team all-CIML Iowa Conference choice, and a two-time member of the all-Central Iowa Conference North Division squad as an underclassman. She was a second-team all-CIML elite pick as a junior and a second-team all-CIC pick as a sophomore as well.
This season, Mazour led the Class 5A No. 15 Bobcats (22-14) to a third-place finish in the CIML Iowa behind seventh-ranked Dowling and No. 14 Urbandale. She finished fourth in the division with 49 kills during conference play but made only six swinging errors to end with a .294 hitting efficiency — second-best among attackers with more than 70 attempts. She also tied for third in the division with 74 digs in league play.
Feldman finished 13th in the conference in kills (23), was fourth in aces (8) and 10th in digs in the Iowa Conference.
Collecting their first all-conference honors were Bobcat senior middle hitter Molly Bach and sophomore setter Madi Finch, who were named honorable mention. Bach led MHS in blocks overall (26) and in conference play (4) while finishing third on the team in kills (20) in league matches. Finch accumulated 92 assists, averaging 6.7 per set to finish third in the division.
