OMAHA, Neb. — The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team clawed to push Nebraska Omaha to the brink on Wednesday, but eventually the Panthers’ comeback fell short as the Mavericks won 78-74.

UNI erased an 11-point halftime deficit to take a 54-53 lead with 3:08 left in the third quarter, but UNO responded to build a 13-point advantage late in the game.
