Cyclones succumb to Kansas St. comeback

AMES — The Iowa State women’s basketball team let a 10-point second-half lead slip away as Kansas State captured a 67-60, comeback win in Wednesday’s Big 12 Conference game inside Hilton Coliseum.

Kansas State (10-6, 2-3) outscored the Cyclones 29-15 in the fourth quarter to overcome a 45-38 deficit entering the final frame. The Wildcats shot 69.2 percent (9-for-13) from the field in the fourth, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range, to overtake Iowa State (7-9, 1-4).

Kayla Goth led Kansas State with 16 points, Peyton Williams had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Rachel Ranke added 14 points and Kaylee Page had 13 points and 10 boards.

Iowa State was led by Bride Kennedy-Hopoate’s 17 points off the bench. Bridget Carleton had 16 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the year.

Iowa State goes on the road Saturday to face Texas Tech at 6 p.m. in Lubbock.
