Trowbridge, Fox finish fourth at CIML Invite

PLEASANT HILL — A duo of seniors were the highlight for the Marshalltown wrestling team at the Central Iowa Metro League Invitational on Friday, as Brian Trowbridge and Jordan Fox each finished fourth at 160 and 195 pounds respectively while leading the Bobcats to 10th place.

Fox won his first match of the day with relative ease, taking down Justin Zeigler from Mason City with a first-period pin. He had a little more on his hands in the quarterfinals against Jared Johnson from Waukee but still pulled out a 7-2 decision. In the semifinals, Fox came up against Class 3A No. 10 Triston Licht form Fort Dodge, where he lost by major decision, 14-3.

It was a closer match in the third-place match, but Fox couldn’t quite overcome Noah Stober from Ankeny Centennial, as he fell in a 3-0 decision.

Trowbridge received a bye in his first round, then in the quarterfinals he won a close 1-0 decision over Andrew Martin from Ankeny. In the quarterfinals, Trowbridge fell to No. 7 Levi Egli from Fort Dodge, 6-2, then he lost in the third-place match to West Des Moines Valley’s Blake Underwood in a 6-4 sudden victory match.

Other than the top two, four other Bobcats placed in the meet. Decker Mann took fifth at 220, Bennett Hageman finished sixth at 106, while Zach Bitker at 113 and Jordan Anderson at heavyweight each finished in seventh.
