MHS boys bowlers win CIML Iowa meet
DES MOINES — After finishing the regular season with a perfect record, the Marshalltown boys bowling team showed it wasn’t done achieving yet on Thursday, as the Bobcats took home the CIML Iowa Conference Tournament trophy.
MHS finished with a team score of 3,214, nearly 300 pins higher than second-place finisher Urbandale. Leading the way for Marshalltown was Ray Wiegand, who was the top individual performer in the tournament with a series score of 524. That was the highest series of the season for Wiegand, and his first-game score of 280 was the highest of the year.
Kamrin Chizek finished fourth individually, second on the team, with a series of 438, followed by Joshua Arment taking sixth with a 431, Jonathan McKeever taking ninth with a 414, Richie Thomas finishing 12th with a 393 and Lucas Kramer taking 15th with a 374.
The Marshalltown girls finished third in their tournament with a score of 2,542, the highest total of the season for the Bobcats.
ShayeLyn Pickett was the top performer, finishing third individually with a series of 398. Haley Bell was next on the team with a 360, good enough for 11th, and Kylee Witt placed 12th with a 349. Karlie Potter, Ali Olinger and Ashly Wiegand rounded out the scoring with a 324, 316 and 298 respectively.
