SPORTS SHORTS: Sixth-ranked Norse top No. 15 Royals
COLO — The Colo-NESCO girls basketball team lost a battle with Class 3A No. 6 Roland-Story on Saturday, 57-36.
The 1A No. 15 Royals (16-4) were outscored by seven in each of the first three quarters by the Norsemen (19-2), though they did play to an 8-8 tie in the fourth.
Faith Vincent was the only Colo-NESCO player in double digits, as she finished with 12 points. Molly Barten and Rylee Purvis each also netted seven.
Jenna Clark led all scorers with 20 points for Roland-Story, followed by Susie Weaver with 13.
Rebels dash past BCLUW boys, 70-31
CONRAD — The Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys basketball team won its final NICL West Division game of the season on Friday by taking down BCLUW on the road, 70-31.
In his second game back after suffering an ankle injury a week ago, Caden Kickbush led the Rebels (14-5, 9-3) with 18 points, while Jackson Kiburis had 13, Mason Skovgard 12 and Walker Thede 10. Skovgard also had 11 rebounds to complete a double-double.
The Comets (3-16, 1-11) were led by Troy Dolphin with 10 points.
