MHS boys soccer routs Dodgers 10-1

FORT DODGE — The Marshalltown boys soccer team earned its biggest win of the season on Monday with a 10-1 drubbing of Fort Dodge in a CIML Iowa Conference showdown.

The Bobcats (3-2, 1-0) got off to a hot start thanks to Jose Torres, as the sophomore scored his first hat trick of the season with three goals all in the first half. Ronaldo Ordaz also added two of his own, while Kabba Pins, Ian Hernandez, Raul Perez, Rene Hernandez and Tony Angel all scored against the Dodgers (1-4, 0-1).

“We were able to really spread the field and make the Dodgers work,” MHS coach Chris Fuchsen said.

Jesus Muñoz got the start between the posts for MHS and nearly had a clean sheet, if it weren’t for a goal scored off a deflection on a free kick with two minutes left in the game.

“Raul Perez answered right back with a stunning crack of a goal after they scored,” Fuchsen said. “Goal of the match.”

Muñoz finished with two saves, while Rene, Pablo Cuevas and Austin Shomo all had assists.

MHS returns to the pitch on Friday when it travels to Mason City for another CIML Iowa contest.
