3 Cougars capture all-district

West Marshall, East Marshall, BCLUW earn two spots each

Class 1A state runner-up AGWSR had three girls selected to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association 1A North Central Divsion all-district team.

Junior pitcher Taryan Barrick earned her second-straight all-district selection after leading the entire state in strikeouts, while leadoff slugger MaKenna Kuper also earned her second-straight all-district honor after leading 1A in runs scored. Cougar catcher Ali Gerbracht was the first newcomer to earn the selection for AGWSR.

In Class 2A, regional-finalist East Marshall and BCLUW both were given two selections in the Northeast District.

Mustangs junior catcher Madison Farrington earned her first honor of her career after finishing tied for ninth in home runs in Class 2A with seven, while sophomore pitcher Kodie Hoskey got her second-straight all-district nod after finishing with a 17-6 record.

Comets third baseman Kiersten Kruse and pitcher Bailey Ashton each were selected to their first all-district teams, with Ashton finishing in the top 15 in 2A in strikeouts with 166 and Kruse coming in with a .438 batting average.

Grundy Center senior Landry Luhring also was selected to the Northeast all-district team after leading the Spartans with 21 RBIs and hitting for a .455 average.

West Marshall had two selections for the 3A Central District, with Brooke Snider making her third-straight all-district team and Renae Schaper earning her first honor. Snider finished eighth in 3A with 10 home runs and Schaper was third in doubles with 19.
