SPORTS SHORTS: MCC volleyball team remains unbeaten

The Marshalltown Community College volleyball team improved to 8-0 on the season on Tuesday with a win over Southwestern Community College in straight sets, 25-17, 25-14, 25-14.

The Tigers had a good turnout to watch their eighth-straight win, partially due to the players from their summer volleyball camp coming out to the game for Campers Night.

“It was great being able to get a win at home tonight,” head coach Justin Hoskins said of the win. “We had a good student section and it was fun having a lot of our campers in attendance. We’ve got some things to prepare for and clean up to beat [Hawkeye Community College] on Friday, so hopefully we’ll have a good few days of practice this week and come out ready to play.”

MCC hits the road once again on Friday to play the RedTails in Waterloo, starting at 7 p.m.
