Bobcat bowling teams take care of Urbandale

URBANDALE — The Marshalltown bowling teams bounced back from losses to Waukee on Monday with wins over Urbandale on Tuesday at Merle Hay Lanes.

The Bobcat boys got back on the right foot with a 2,865-2,525 win over the J-Hawks, with Kamrin Chizek leading the way with a 429, followed by Lucas Kramer with a 397, Logan Proffitt with a 362, Ray Wiegand with a 351, Carson Potter with a 328 and Andrew Laybon with a 292.

MHS head coach DJ Wilder said the lane conditions at Merle Haye Lanes weren’t great, but his guys did well to battle through.

“These were the toughest conditions this team has faced all year, and hopefully will not face again,” Wilder said. “Good experience to face such tough conditions and find a shot and extend the lead through the Baker games.”

In the Bakers, the Bobcat boys went 181, 226, 183, 216, 192, to extend what was a 118-pin lead to the final 340-pin victory.

On the girls side, the MHS girls beat Urbandale 2,213-2,170. Sydney Dannen led the team with a 378, followed by Emily Diggins with a 312, Ashly Wiegand with a 280, Kylee Witt with a 277, Hannah Slifer with a 268 and Ashlyn Rutledge with a 252.

“Character showed today as they had to battle right down to the end. So proud of their efforts to finish with the win,” Wilder said. “Again conditions did not make it easy for the Lady Bobcats, but the found a way to hold on.”

Marshalltown has a bit of a break now and will be back on the lanes on Jan. 17 at Ottumwa.
