Denver denies Trojans from district finals
DIKE — The West Marshall boys basketball team lost to Denver in the Class 2A District 11 semifinals on Thursday, 47-44.
The Trojans (14-8) and Cyclones (16-6) were tied at 16-all at halftime, but Denver edged out a 36-29 lead by the end of the third quarter. West Marshall pulled the game close but wasn’t able to take the lead over in the end.
Peyton Pope had a team-high 11 points for the Trojans, while Joe Halverson had seven points and two steals, Gabe Jones had seven points and eight rebounds and Isaiah Borgos had seven points.
Bryce Phelps led Denver with 18 points, followed by Alex Gebel with nine and Devin Baas with eight.
