Megan Gustafson

ROSEMONT, Ill. — University of Iowa senior Megan Gustafson was selected the Big Ten Conference Player of the Week for the 10th time this season, the conference announced on Monday.

It is the 20th Big Ten Player of the Week award of Gustafson’s career, which breaks the previous record of 19 held by former Ohio State standout Jantel Lavender. Gustafson also broke her own single-season record with her 10th honor this season.

Gustafson averaged 28.5 points, 10 rebounds and shot 75 percent from the field in two road contests last week. She led all scorers with 27 points on 79 percent shooting in a loss to Michigan on Friday, and she added nine rebounds, four blocks and two assists.

Gustafson followed that performance with a spectacular 30 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks in a win over Penn State on Sunday. Gustafson leads the nation with seven 30-point games this year, and she is second in the nation with 20 double-doubles.
