Gustafson a finalist for Wooden Award

Megan Gustafson

IOWA CITY — University of Iowa senior Megan Gustafson has been named to the Wooden Award All-American Team, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced on Wednesday.

The five-player women’s basketball team comprises the top five vote-getters for the 2019 John R. Wooden Award, which is presented annually to the most outstanding collegiate basketball player.

Gustafson is invited to Los Angeles for the Wooden Award presentation during the ESPN College Basketball Awards on April 12. The event will be televised on ESPN2.

Gustafson, who has already been named a first-team All-American by The Associated Press and the Player of the Year by ESPNW.com, ended her Hawkeye basketball career as the program’s all-time leading scorer (2,804 points) and rebounder (1,460). She eclipsed 1,000 points in her senior campaign as well, becoming just the fourth player in NCAA women’s basketball history to achieve the feat.
