Boy Scout to build flag display at Gilman Cemetery

GILMAN — Andrew Abramson has begun fundraising efforts for his Boy Scout Troop #324 Eagle Scout project. He plans to construct and erect a triple flag display at the Gilman Cemetery. The display will have an American flag, POW/MIA flag and the Iowa flag displayed.

There will also be a memorial plaque honoring the men and women who served the country and are buried in the cemetery, plus a bench. Andrew will hold a soup supper fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Gilman Legion Hall, from 5-8 p.m. Donations may also be made to his Boy Scout troop or by calling his parents at 641-485-6364. The project is estimated to cost $5,000, to be completed in the spring.
