SPORTS SHORTS: MHS sophomores roundup Mohawks

Wade Canaday had 18 points and Bennett O’Hare tallied 17 to help propell the Bobcat sophomores past Mason City on Monday, 54-48.

Jaiden Van Law had 10 points and Blake Trowbridge added six more to help Marshalltown’s scoring efforts.

The Bobcats are back on the road tonight at Valley.

D-NH pushes past BCLUW in Conrad

CONRAD — When the Comets faultered, that’s when the Wolverines made their move. A 17-5 mark in the third quarter made much of the differnce in the Dike-New Hartford girls’ basketball team’s win at BCLUW on Monday night, 52-38.

Baylee Petersen went for 17 points and four steals, while Elizabeth Cuvelier had eight points and 10 rebounds to boost the Wolverines (9-6) past the Comets (5-10). BCLUW was led by Madision Ubben’s nine points, Lauren Anderson’s six points and team-best 10 rebounds and Samantha Ubben’s five points and eight steals.

The Wolverines were 11-of-17 from the charity stripe, while the Comets managed for just a 7-of-20 mark. Down just 24-22 at halftime, the third-quarter lull put the finishing touches on the night.

Kaylee Goecke had eight points, Leah Yantis had six and Skylar Veldhouse had four in the loss

BCLUW is at North Tama tonight, tipping off at 6:30 p.m.
