• Marshalltown Alcoholics Anonymous, 8 a.m., at 1311 E. Nevada St.

• Marshalltown Al-anon Family Group, 8 a.m., will meet at 1311 E. Nevada St. For questions call: 641-691-1989

• Laurel United Methodist Church, 9 a.m., 209 S. Main St., Laurel has Sunday School first followed by the church service at 10 a.m. Scott Lothe is the minister. The public is invited to attend.

• Unitarian Fellowship of Marshalltown, 10 a.m., in the boardroom in the Horne-Henry Center of the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA, Marshalltown. This is a spiritual and philosophical discussion group. They will meet each Sunday of the month.

• Powerhouse Church, 11 a.m., will meet at the Orpheum Theater, 220 E. Main St., for church services. Looking for Worship Team members to share musical talents at church.

• Elf Jr., The Musical, 2 p.m., Martha Ellen Tye Playhouse, 709 S. Center St. Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for students (with a student ID) and $5 for children (12 and under.)

• 1942 Film Festival: “Hometown” (the Clutier movie), Wieting Theatre, 101 S. Church St., Toledo, 2 p.m. “Hometown:” When Rick brings his Brooklyn-born wife Leah back to his hometown of Clutier, Leah is less than thrilled and finds a way to offend most everyone in town. But when she discovers that they might have to stay in Clutier for good, she is forced to search for the reason why Rick loves it so much. This film was made in Clutier, Iowa in the spring of 2011.

• MHS Holiday Concert, 3 p.m., MHS/Community Auditorium. Featuring treble choir, concert choir, MHS Holiday Singers, Symphonic band and wind symphony. Tickets are $5 for adults/$3 for students (K-8) with activity cards honored

• Marshalltown Alcoholics Anonymous, 6 p.m., Happy, Joyous and Free first Baptist Church at 700 E. Olive St. Open Meeting
