Marshalltown High School girls track team trounced Grinnell 108-36 as Donna Skinner broke the softball throw record by 10 feet with a toss of 214 feet and Cindy Lowry broke the high jump record with a 5 feet, 2 inch jump.

The Synchronized Swimming Minnows at the Community Y prepared for their show “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.” The Minnows consisted of: Kinsey Hill, Madison Bell, Meagan McCamis, Rebecca Klaas, Allison Wogan, Anna Klaas, Megan Pixler, Annalisa Donahey, Kaitlyn Hill, China Calderon, Valerie Hulin, Missy Allen, Laura Wilkinson, Olyvia Mathews, Mariah Reed, Samantha Tocheri, Allison Stegmann and Eliza Smith.

Senior high and middle school winners at the 35th annual Hawkeye Science Fair were: Sara Renze, third place in the senior high biology division, $300 and a trophy; Rebecca Renze, first place, seventh grade, biological category; Ann Adams, fourth place, seventh grade, biological category; and Elizabeth Phillips, fourth place, seventh grade, physical science category.

The BCLUW Comets hosted it first track meet on the new all-weather track with the boys and girls winning both team titles in the BCLUW Quad as Tanner Dielschneider and Dane McDonald were two-time winners while Haddie Vawter and Jordan Schossow went one and two in the 3000 meter run.

Tanya Clausen, of Gladbrook, was one of 10 new members inducted into the University of Northern Iowa National Honor Society Beta Nu Chapter of Phi Upsilon Omicron based on her scholarship, leadership and service.

MHS boys track captured their first dual of the season with a 95-56 win over Cedar Rapids Kennedy as Dean Fogarty broke the 110 meter high hurdles record in a time of 14.7 seconds.

West Marshall’s John Dickkut was among those selected when a committee of state basketball coaches announced the North and South squads for the Iowa Jaycees All-Star basketball game at the UNI-Dome.

Marshalltown Area Volleyball team of: Tanae Spencer, Kylee Button, Jaymee Dalbec, Taylor Simbides, Jessica Shollenbarger, Katelynn Sjoblom and Brittany Ambler finished second at the state AAU ninth grade volleyball gold tournament.

The East Marshall track girls won the South Tama Trojan Triangular as Kiffany Dunham anchored two winning relays, the 4×800 meter and the 4×400 meter while also winning the high jump and 800 meter run. Joining Dunham in the winner’s circle were Jenny Weitzell, 100 meter dash and Megan Angell, 3000 meter and 1500 meter runs.

MHS girls track stars Denise Leavy, Donna Skinner and Cindy Lowry led the Bobcats to a 80.5 to 62.5 victory over Ames as Leavy won the 220 yard hurdles, the 400 meter dash and helped the 1600 meter relay to victory; Lowry set a new school record in the high jump at 5 feet, 3 inches and Skinner finished with three first in the softball throw at 206 feet, 7 inches; the shot put heave of 35 feet, 8 inches and the discus throw of 98 feet, 6 inches.
