Winners in a recent egg coloring contes featuring Franklin Elementary third graders were first, Nathan Penner; second, Nicole Robertson, second and third Sundeep Randhawa.

The BCL girls whipped the visiting Wellsburg girls 93-53 as Julie Case took the shot put and Lori Carnes the discus while Kelly Skartvedt and Marcia Meyers led the BCL girls in the running events with Meyers winning the 110 and 220 hurdles and Skartvedt the 100 meter dash and two winning relay teams.

The Sports University 17 Maroon team, based out of Ankeny and featuring Caitlyn Shiek, of Marshalltown, placed third at the Iowa Regional volleyball tournament and qualified for the Junior Olympic National Volleyball Tournament in Dallas, Texas.

Jordan Galloway and Angie Sommerlot of the Marshalltown Magic Skippers turned the ropes as Hawkeye basketball players Acie Earl and Troy Skinner attempt to jump in as the halftime entertainment at the Iowa Hawkeyes/Marshalltown All-Stars exhibition game.

LDF sophomore Darla Wolken led the track team to a 75-68 win over United Community as she placed first in the long jump and won the 440 yard dash, 220 yard dash and anchored the mile relay team.

The Marshalltown Community College Tigers softball team handed Ellsworth a double loss in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play 11-2 and 9-0 as Billi Gray tossed a no-hitter with Ashely Dille hitting a pair of home runs and Sunni Jo Walker ending both games in the sixth inning with walk-off home runs.

Winning the AEA 6 Senior division from GMG and heading to state in the Iowa Future Problem Solving State Bowl were: Mishelle Hay, Laurel Knapp, Ryan Schulte, Ryan Van Haaften and Aaron Farnsworth.

Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education announced that Emily Kloberdanz, of Marshalltown, was invited and inducted into the membership through the Mu Pi Chapter at Iowa State University.

Marshalltown High School junior Jim Dobbins clear 6 feet in the high jump at the Hi Covey Relays while teammate Jay Rozell cleared 6 feet, 3 inches to go one and two as the Cats finished second only to host team Ames.

The MHS boys track team won its Early Bird Classic with 136 points over closest finisher Ankeny with 85 points as records fell: Dan Clark broke the long jump; the 800 meter relay team of Scott Kilstrom, George Naughton, Mike Jorgensen and Emmett Huston won in record breaking time; Dean Fogarty broke the 400 meter low hurdles record and the 400 meter relay and 1600 meter relay records were smashed.

Chris Edel, of the Iowa Farm Bureau, presented a check for $1,000 and a trophy to MHS senior class president Molly Pollpeter and MHS Principal Bonnie Lowry as part of the sportsmanship award from the boys state basketball tournament.

Colo-NESCO High School students: Pat Milleson, Chris Clatt, Bryce Whitmore, Benjy Weida and Shane George painted a mural for Royal Pride which was unveiled at the third annual art festival.

The MHS boys golf team won the double dual against Knoxville and Oskaloosa 161-178 and 161-162, respectively, as Darrell Chivington tied for medalist honors.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck students Alyssa Christopher, Caitie Allen, Sadie Walton, Hunter Raney and Tyler Wrage earned a trip to the International Future Problem Solvers Conference at Michigan State University.

The MHS boys golf squad started the season with a victory over Grinnell, Newton and South Tama as sophomore Josh Rezac earned medalist honors shooting a 71.

MHS girls track toppled Eldora and West Marshall 104-59 (Eldora) – 25 (West Marshall) as Donna Skinner broke her softball throw record; Denise Leavy broke the 220 low hurdles record and Karen Clark took second in the 100 meter hurdles to break the school record.

The 2007 Central Iowa Metro League art show Student Choice Award went to Pedro Aguero, MHS student, for his self portrait.

The beads of rain and even hail shortened the Tiger Invitational with the MHS girls in the lead for the crown as Jocie Van Cleave and Britta Adams went one and two in the shot put; Tara Sondall won the 100 meter dash and the 4×800 relay team of Melissa Bayer, Sarah Foley, Autumn Terrill and Michelle Duder took first.

The Warhawk boys track team won the triangular against Garwin and Green Mountain as Mark Halverson won the shot put and discus and Stan Overstake and Eric Grey led the running events with Overstake winning the 100 yard dash and helping the medley relay and mile relay teams to victory as Grey won the 220 yard dash and the 440 yard dash.
