With four scores in the 40s, GMG boys’ golf team defeated East Marshall 181-195 with Alex Dvorak shooting a 41 for runner-up medalist honors followed by Todd Richter’s 44; Arley Beane’s 46 and Kellin Feil’s 48.

Members of Girl Scout Cadet Troop No. 21 in Conrad were presented the President’s Sports Awards: Jessica Bonel, Telea Bogan, Sarah Boyle, Jessica Ladehoff and Casey Woosley.

The Bobcat boys’ track team, for the first time in 24 years, captured the championship trophy for their home meet with the highlight of the meet being the 4×100 victory over Ames which holds the fastest time for the event in the state.

BCLUW girls won the Dike-New Hartford Lady Simons Relays with 136.5 points as the 4×400 meter relay team of Kris Penick, Kelsey Feltz, Haddie Vawter and Nicole Fisher set a new meet record with their victory.

GMG senior Angie Sandquist threw a shotput toss of 40-9 for a third place finish at the Drake Relays losing only to tosses of 40-10 and 40-10.5.

Winners of the annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby races were Todd Wilson, 8-year-olds; Todd Kearney, 9-year-olds and Jason Jons, 10-year-olds.

Known as the Marshalltown Lynx Rufi, MHS students Matt Paar, Claire Runquist, Alex Cope, Patrick Decerman and Eliza Smith won the 2008 Environthon state title.

Danielle Corwin was installed as G-Y president at the candlelight ceremony at the 67th mother-daughter year end program at Stone’s Restaurant.

Matt Wuertz, playing Bilbo the Hobbit, Tim Bento and Dave Watson playing Thorin practiced a scene from the joint Anson and Lenihan Junior High School’s production of “Hobbit.”

West Marshall boys and girls golf squads shot their way to victory at he par-35 Lincoln Valley Golf Course as the boys won 169-227 over CMB with Jesse Easton shooting 38 for medalist honors and the girls went 202-244 over CMB as Juree Muench shot a 48 for the medalist spot.

MHS 4×400 relay team of Melissa Bayer, Michelle Duder, Kirsten Redalen and alternate Tracy Galbreath captured fourth place at the Drake Relays with a time of 4:07.33.

Three young musicians: Allison Flood, Angela Erion and Daniel Bell were among the 34 students winning superior awards at the Tuesday Musical Club’s annual competition.

West Marshall’s Joe Disney set a new school record in the shotput at the PCM Mustang Classic with a toss of 54 feet 5 inches to finish second in the event, but first in the discus with a throw of 145-6.

Ashley Dilley became the all-time leader in three major offensive categories in Marshalltown Community College history: runs driven in-43 for the season and 76 for her career for two items and homerun hitting with 18 which scored her 56 career run.
