Ron Iverson, of Grinnell, showed the Grand Champion female in the Hampshire Purebred Hog Breed category at the Iowa State Fair.

At the first All Kids Tennis Tournament in Garwin, Gary Stern won the boys singles ages 16-18; Joe Parks and Mike Konicek won the doubles and Mary Jane Kunch took the girls singles title while in the 13-15 age bracket: Dave Bacon took the boys title and Valerie Kunch won the girls and age 10-12 group: Martin Upah was the boys champion and Stephanie Beck the girls.
