The MHS volleyball team defeated Iowa Falls 15-11, 15-1, 5-15 and 15-9 as Amy Trowbridge finished with 23-of-24 spikes and 14 kills.

The LDF Warhawks took a 28-8 win over Maxwell to end their football season 6-1 and tie SEMCO for the league championship as Brian Salasek ran for a total of 204 yards.

Meghan Krausman and Brittany Fogt combined for 18 kills, Ellysia Ciddio handed out 15 assists and the Grundy Center volleyball team swept West Marshall 25-19, 25-11 and 25-16 in the Class 2A Region 7 quarterfinals.

MHS cross country runner Charlie Kelly edged Dubuque runner Rob Brock for the third place title as the ‘Cats, as a team, also took third place at the state cross country meet.

LeAnn Appelgate was one of 71 top high schools seniors to be accepted at Iowa State University with “Recognition and Award” for being in the top five percent of her graduating class. She won a $100 scholarship along with the honor.

A new school record in the 200 yard freestyle relay and a pair of event wins powered MHS swim team to a second place finish in districts and qualified these athletes for state: Susan Miriovsky, Heather Rouse, Tara Sondall and Stacey Spooner (200 yd. medley relay team); Katie Bloom, Lesa Reynolds and Kim Fritz (diving) and Micah Hill.

The Garwin Roughriders closed out their regular football season with a 14-12 win over Hubbard as Gary Judge ran for 144 yards and one of the touchdowns and Jay Freese led the team in tackles with nine.
