The Bobcat girls’ basketball squad used a full court press to defeat Des Moines North 23-7 in the CIML Metro League Jamboree as Amy Neldeberg led the scoring with eight points.

Former East Marshall and Marshalltown Community College student Katie Kitzman connected on a three pointer with one second remaining in overtime to lift Simpson College to an 84-82 victory over Carthage College finishing with 16 points for the game.

The unbeaten MCC men swept a pair of games at the Bud Lite Classic defeating McHenry Community College 77-59 and Devil’s Lake Community College 95-78 as sophomore guard Jason Berkey hit four three point goals and poured in 22 points and four rebounds in the first night’s game and hit 8-of-16 three pointers and finished with 27 points for the Devil’s Lake game.

The West Marshall girls’ basketball squad defeated Eldora 94-58 as the offense was hot with Dianne Rohrer scoring 33 points, Cindy Freese firing 29, Dalone Pfantz adding 17 and Jill Flora hitting 13 points.

West Marshall girls opened their basketball season with a 53-28 win over Colo-NESCO as Molly Underwood paced the Trojans with 11 points and six rebounds and Alex Hotopp added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Linda McCargar, of Gilman, a sophomore at MCC, was elected to be in the 16th edition of the National Dean’s List an honorary award only half of one percent of college student’s achieve.

The LDF boys defeated Reinbeck 53-45 as Doug Price led the scoring with 16 points followed by Lane Williams with 14 and Darin Nuese with 12 points.
