The West Marshall boys basketball squad slipped past South Hamilton 53-50 as Jim Knuth led the Trojans with 22 points and 12 rebounds and Rick Pundt dropped in 12 points to round out the double-figure scoring.

The Bobcat swim team dropped Indianola in the opener 102-66 as they won seven of the 11 events including the first three races and the ‘Cats finished the opener with 20 lifetime bests.

The highly-rated East Marshall boys slipped by Eldora-New Providence in the Tip-Off Classic with a 75-69 win as three Mustangs led the offense in double figures: Kevin Thompson with 23 points, Don Berggren with 17 and Matt Knoll with 12 points.

The West Marshall girls came from behind to beat South Hamilton 63-55 as Cindy Freese led with 33 points while teammates Dianne Rohrer and Dalona Pfantz each finished with 12 points.

Heather Eash scored a game high 20 points and had five steals as East Marshall opened its NICL West Division season 59-46 over Grundy Center.

The West Marshall Trojan girls swept past Roland-Story 60-46 as Sharon Blood dropped in 29 points to lead the offense. The West Marshall boys followed with a squeaker 65-64 win in the nightcap as Matt Lively led the men with 25 points.

The Garwin Roughriders came away with two wins over Green Mountain as the boys won 82-69 with Jerry Rohach leading the scoring with 28 points followed by Brad Smoldt’s 25 and the girls won 70-63 with the one-two punch of players Donna Rohach with 36 points and Traci Boerm’s 31.

West Marshall post Alexa Hotopp put up 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the 46-32 victory over Gilbert while teammates Susan Johnson hit 11 points and Amber Pfantz dropped in 10 points.

The Marshalltown Community College Tiger women’s basketball squad led by the hot hand of Shelley Delger’s 36 points defeated Iowa Central Community College 91-42.

The MHS Bobcat girls whipped Urbandale 64-47 as Amy Neldeberg finished with 23 points and Abbey Peterson added 16 points to the win.

The MHS wrestlers remained undefeated when they scored a 29-24 win over the Mason City Mohawks as MIke Fox, Dennis Leavy and John Peter all pinned their opponents in their respective weight classes.
