Harms — 65th

Longtime Marshalltown residents Jerry and Elaine Harms celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Dec. 10.

Jerry has been in the construction business for many years and is active in the Kiwanis organization. Elaine is a homemaker and is known locally for her sewing and cake decorating skills. She is also an avid gardener. They are members of the United Methodist Church. In October, they were honored by Friendship Force International for their 38 years of service in the organization.

Harms’ enjoy traveling. Their association with Friendship Force has taken them to England, New Zealand and Korea. They make an annual trip to California to visit their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren there.

Their children are Cindi (Duane) Diggins, Kris (Rick) Karl, Ann (Wayne) Sawtelle and Mike (Tami) Harms. Grandchildren are Ashley (Sean) Cherbone, Emily (Danny) West, Allison (Travis) Stevick and Kelsey Sawtelle; great-grandchildren Trevor, Pete, Jake, Aaron, Violet and Josephine.
