Christmas meeting at Liscomb Legion Auxiliary

LISCOMB — Liscomb Legion Auxiliary met Dec. 8 for a noon dinner prepared by hostess Sharon Hatch in Whitten. Seven members answered roll call what each one was thankful for this holiday season. The meeting started at 1:35 p.m. and was lead by President Hatch. Chaplain pro tem Toni Kinney gave the opening prayer. The group recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the Auxiliary Preamble and observed a moment of silence for the MIA/POWs and deceased veterans.

The minutes of the November meeting were approved. The unit received two thank-you notes for giving 2017 calendars to the Iowa Veterans Homes residents and helping with the Veterans Day program at Liscomb.

The unit will be sending Lauren Mosher, of Liscomb, to Girls State. It was voted upon to take treats in February to the BCLUW school.

Candy Wait and Hatch went on Dec. 5 to the IVH to set out the Christmas gifts for the veterans to select gifts for their family on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The unit is hosting the 2017 Spring Conference held in March. Discussion was held on the ideas for this meeting.

The are no meetings in January and February. The March 2, 2017, meeting will be held at the Union Community Church with Wait as hostess.

The Chaplain pro tem gave a closing Christmas prayer for peace throughout the world.

Dorothy Sorensen read a newspaper clipping entitled, “Merry Christmas.” Hatch read “The Meaning of the Christmas Wreath.”

A gift exchange followed the meeting.
