The Post and Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 839 met at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday after a chili meal served by the Post.

Linda Tasler, president, conducted the meeting according to the ritual. There were nine members present. General Orders were read. The Pledge of Allegiance was spoken. The minutes were read and corrected. The treasurer’s report was read.

Correspondence was from Camp Courageous of Iowa, Iowa Veterans Home, Irene Peters, Stamps for the Wounded, Dave Randall, and Mike Weavering from the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.

Tasler sent 8,251 coupons to CIRSI, 617 Stamps for the Wounded, 31 Box Tops to Franklin School and 41 puzzles to the VA.

The Money March was conducted. Happy Birthday money was received.

There will be Department VFW Auxiliary Bingo at IVH on Jan. 27. Volunteers are requested for the VFW Auxiliary Bingo and also on the third Monday of the each month for the Post Bingo.

The Mid-Winter meeting will be held in Des Moines on Jan. 20 – 22. The Year End meeting will be held in Waterloo.

The quarterly audit was read, moved on and approved.

The Charter was draped for departed sisters, Ruth Randall and Betty J. Giarratano.

The meeting closed according to the ritual. The next meeting will be at the Post on Feb. 21 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
