Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Debbie Pickard, of Grimes, formerly of State Center, announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter Melanie to Tyler Bell, son of Timothy Bell, of Marshalltown, and Ericka Roberts Bell, of Melbourne.

Melanie is a 2007 graduate of West Marshall High School and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degrees in both theatre arts and human resource management from the University of Northern Iowa in December of 2011. She has since held professional HR positions with Target, Primary Health Care and most recently became a talent acquisition specialist for Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.

Tyler is a 2010 graduate of Marshalltown High School and obtained both his BA degree in computer science and his Master of Arts degree in human computer interaction from Iowa State University in 2012 and 2014, respectively. He is currently working toward his Ph.D. in computer engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., while conducting research in the Multi-scale 3D Superfast Optical Sensing Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Song Zhang.

The couple is planning a June 27 wedding ceremony at Living Faith Lutheran Church in Clive, followed by a reception at the Science Center of Iowa in downtown Des Moines.
