Court

• Salvador Marquez Andrade made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a theft-fifth degree charge. Ben Stansberry has been hired as counsel. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on April 18 in Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $300 cash only.

• Alexander Michael Wayne Anderson made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 16 in Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A no contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Tyson Peters made an initial appearance through counsel, Michael Marquez, on a probation violation charge. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Peters is released on his promise to appear.

• A 15-year-old male from Liscomb made an initial appearance on a speeding charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 28 in Magistrate Court.

• William E. Cook made an initial appearance through counsel, Marshon Dubbert, on two counts of a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Cook is being held without bond.

• Jeremy Stevens made an initial appearance on a vicious dog charge and a dog at large charge. Stevens pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 21 in Magistrate Court.

• Fernando Ervin Cole made an initial appearance on a possession of alcohol under the legal age limit-second offense charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $500 with a $175 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $735, due within 30 days.

• Dayton Royce Lasley Sanache, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge, a dark windows violation charge and a open container charge. Christian Stickrod was appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 21. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Benjamin DeJesus Lopez Pena made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. Merrill Swartz is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled at 10.30 a.m. on April 16. Lopez Pena is released on his promise to appear.

• Sean Matthews Smith made an initial appearance on a dominion of a firearm by a convicted domestic abuse person. Darrell Meyer is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 20. Smith is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report immediately to sign up for pre-trial release.

• On Thursday, March 1, three cases of criminal mischief were reported in the 100 block of North First Avenue.

Accidents

• On Thursday, March 1, a car driven by Nhut Dinh Tran, 27, of Des Moines, was westbound on East Church Street when the driver attempted a lane change and collided with a car driven by Michelle Lynn Pritchett, 33, of Clemons, which was also westbound. No injuries were reported. Tran was cited for improper use of lanes. Damage to the Tran car was estimated at $1,200 while the Pritchett car received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, March 1, a vehicle driven by Aung Min Zaw, 29, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Seventh Avenue when the driver ran the stop sign at the intersection with Linn Street and broadsided a car driven by Ta Ngae, 44, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Zaw was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield sign. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $3,000 each.

• On Thursday, March 1, a car driven by Amber Nicole Hinegardner, 22, of Laurel, was southbound on North 12th Avenue when the driver pulled into traffic from the stop sign and collided with the passenger side front of a car driven by Hyaw Ta Kong, 40, of Marshalltown, causing minor damage. No injuries were reported. Hinegardner was cited for no valid driver’s license, failure to yield upon left turn and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Damage to the Hinegardner car was estimated at $2,000 while the Kong car received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, March 1, a pickup driven by Glen Wesley Sharp, 89, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South Ninth Street stopped at the intersection with Lincolnway and proceeded forward into the path of a minivan driven by Aroro Sale Titi, 34, of Des Moines, resulting in Titi colliding with the passenger side rear fender and spinning the truck around where it came to rest in the yard of 812 W. Lincolnway. Titi and a male and female passenger from Des Moines were all transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Sharp was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and driving under suspension. Damage to the Sharp pickup was estimated at $6,000 while the Titi minivan received an estimated $10,000 in damage.

• On Sunday, Feb. 25, a car driven by Kara Suzanne Anderson, 38, of Marshalltown, was attempting to exit a parking spot on North Center Street when it went forward instead of in reverse and struck the parked Explorer in front. No injuries were reported. Anderson was cited for no insurance-accident, failure to stop in assured, clear distance and operating while under the influence-first offense. Damage to the Anderson car was estimated at $1,000 while the Ford Explorer received an estimated $700 in damage.

Arrests

• On Thursday, March 1, Taira Pritchett, 30, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense, improper brake light, driving while barred, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense, no insurance, driving under suspension and no valid driver’s license.

• On Thursday, March 1, Shanna Oclair, 30, was arrested for driving while barred.

Accidents

• On Sunday, Feb. 25, a vehicle driven by Joann Marie Nehring, 75, of McCallsburg, was southbound on Third Avenue SW in State Center when it went out of control on the icy roadway, went past the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 30 and collided with a vehicle driven by Ross Owen Huffman, 50, of Marshalltown, sending it of the road to the left where it struck the yield sign in the median. No injuries were reported. Nehring was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $8,000 each while the yield sign received an estimated $500 in damage.

• Juvenile charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and unlawful possession of prescription medicine.

• Jeff Goodman of Melbourne was arrested for domestic assault.

• Adilene Garcia was arrested on a federal narcotics warrant.

• Bruce York was arrested for serious assault causing bodily injury.
