Daryl A. Heyl made an initial appearance on a forgery charge, a theft-third degree charge and an unauthorized use of a credit card charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 24. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two outside rubbish fires at 206 N. Seventh St., and 209 N. 11th St., an alarm system activation-no fire-unintentional at 2500 S. Center St., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 101 Byron St., 309 Sugar Plum Place, 909 1/2 E. South St., 311 W. Olive St., 3202 S. 12th St., 2022 Elmcrest Drive, and 402 N. 10th Ave.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an outside rubbish fire at 408 W. High St., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 202 N. Second Ave., 1005 Prairie Lane, 901 S. Sixth St., 1127 W. Olive St., 15 N. 11th Ave., 1108 W. Church St., and 1712 Rainbow Drive.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims from vehicle at 1100 W. 295th St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2500 S. Center St., 409 N. Third Ave., and 309 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on 1200 block of East Olive Street, an outside rubbish fire at 604 N. First Ave., a good intent call at 220 Glenda Drive, and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 104 E. Ingledue St., 114 Nicholas Drive, and 402 N. 10th Ave.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke detector activation due to malfunction at 1301 Summit St., an outside rubbish fire at 312 W. Linn St., and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2204 Dubois Circle, 921 S. 10th Ave., 402 N. 10th Ave., 1306 Glenwood Terrace, 108 W. Boone St., 10 E. State St., 801 E. Main St., and 501 N. Second St.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to electrical wiring/equipment problem at 211 N. Ninth St., an outside rubbish fire at 408 E. Bromley St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2500 S. Center St., 55 Central Iowa Drive, 1402 S. 12th Ave., 13 E. Southridge Road, and 105 S. 12th St.

Arrests
On Wednesday, Kyle Howard Braddock was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense and possession of alcohol under legal age limit-first offense.
On Wednesday, Christopher Palacios Lagunas was arrested for possession of alcohol under legal age limit-first offense.
On Wednesday, Travis Nehring was arrested for supplying alcohol to persons under legal age limit.
On Tuesday, Ronald Lewis Hinders Jr. was arrested on a warrant.
Accidents
On Tuesday, a citizen reported hit and run damage to the front end of a Jeep Cherokee while at an unknown location. Damage to the Jeep was estimated at $2,000.
On Tuesday, a car driven by Lino Rivera-Reyes, of Marshalltown, was northbound on North Center Street in the 500 block when it struck the rear of a legally parked Pontiac. No injuries were reported. Rivera-Reyes was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.
On Tuesday, a Jeep driven by Kristina Lynn Berghuis, of Wellsburg, was northbound on Highway 14 in the left lane and signaled to change lanes while a car driven by Adelaide Barbara Freeman, of Marshalltown, was stopped on Marion Street at the intersection with Highway 14 and pulled onto Highway 14 thinking the Jeep was turning onto Marion Street resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Freeman car was estimated at $1,000 while the Berghuis Jeep received an estimated $500 in damage.
On Oct. 6, a car driven by Jeanne Elizabeth Clapsaddle-Janssen, of Cedar Falls, was northbound on Highway 14 in the left lane when it signaled to change lanes into the right lane and as the change was initiated a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old female from Marshalltown, accelerated resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for no valid driver’s license. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,000 each.

On Wednesday, Marvin Dominick Duran was arrested for two counts of assault on persons in a certain occupation-no weapon.
