Thursday

• Jacob Lawrence Hansen made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference on a theft-fifth degree charge. Jeff Hazen will continue as counsel. The pre-trial conference is rescheduled at 9 a.m. on July 12 in Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $350 cash only.

• Scott Kerry Johnson, Hermantown, Minn., made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, plus restitution if applicable, due within 30 days. The court ordered Johnson to be photographed and fingerprinted in connection with this case before release.

• Rueben Lee Hickman made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an initial appearance on a spitting in a police car charge and a public intoxication charge. Hickman pleaded guilty to both charges and the fines are $65 each with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 for each charge plus a charge for the service of the warrants. Payments are due within 30 days.

• Jeremy Franklin Carroll made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only.

• Dean Allen Oziah made an initial appearance on a public consumption charge and a public intoxication charge. Oziah pleaded guilty to both charges and the fines are $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 for each charge, due within 30 days.

• Trent Taylor made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 2:30p.m. on July 17. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a sprinkler activation-no fire-unintentional at 2 N. Second Ave., a building fire at 406 Orchard Drive, and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: Westwood Drive, 2107 S. Center St., and 2802 S. Center St.

June 16

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an alarm activation-no fire-unintentional at 10 LaFrentz Lane, a detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 811 E. Main St., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 1911 S. Center St., an outside rubbish fire at 410 Union St., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 104 N. Sixth St., 11 W. Grant St., 403 1/2 S. First St., two at 704 N. Center St., and 206 W. Grant St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call to 507 N. Fourth St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 8 W. Lincoln St., 201 E. Main St., 1211 W. State St., 1301 Summit St., and 111 W. Grant St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 1400 Marshalltown Blvd., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 202 N. Second Ave., 405 N. Eighth St., and 1509 Marion St.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3202 S. 12th St., 808 S. Center St., 606 S. 12th St., and 304 W. Southridge Road.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to: an outside rubbish fire at 606 W. Lincolnway, three good intent calls to: 312 W. Linn St., 202 N. Second Ave., and 2006 Blossom Lane, and two medical assists with the EMS crew to South Second Avenue and 1305 Glenwood Terr.

Accidents

• On Sunday, a car driven by Max Edward Hutchens, of Albion, was northbound on North Center Street stopped at the intersection with Lincoln Street when it proceeded forward into the path of a car driven by Stephen Foster McCann, of Marshalltown, resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Hutchens was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield sign. Damage to the Hutchens car was estimated at $1,000 while the McCann car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a person reported a robbery valued high enough to be considered second degree while at Elks Park.

• On Tuesday, Natasha Winter Gallegos was cited for violating one-way traffic designation, no insurance and operation without registration.

Accidents

• On June 16, a vehicle driven by Marci Ann Devick, of Laurel, was northbound on Reed Avenue when a deer exited the east ditch and was struck causing major damage and disabling the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Devick vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

Incidents

• On Monday, a theft-fifth degree, under $200 in value, in Laurel was reported.

• On Saturday, a theft-fourth degree, property valued between $200 and $500, was reported by a person in Albion.

• On June 11, a person in Marshalltown reported someone tampering with a motor vehicle and a burglary-third degree.

It was incorrectly reported in Thursday’s paper that David Baccam made an initial appearance on a drug charge. It should have read Daniel William Baccam made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge.
