Wednesday

• Salud Castillo made an initial appearance on a sex offender registry violation charge and a voluntary absence charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 28. Bond on each offense is $5,000 cash only.

• Jacob Lee Catherwood made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. Merrill Swartz is appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by Catherwood’s parole officer. Catherwood is being held without bond.

• Kevin Leonard made an initial appearance on a contempt of court/failure to pay child support recovery charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 10 a.m. on Aug. 10. Bond is $500 cash only.

• Kione Jerome Donelson made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an arraignment hearing charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The arraignment hearing is rescheduled for July 28. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Adam Bingham, of Guthrie Center, made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 7. Bingham is released on his promise to appear.

• Joseph Wade Bown made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. Jennifer Bonzer is appointed as counsel. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by Bown’s parole officer. Bown is being held without bond.

• Russell Gentry Jr. made an initial appearance on a pre-trial release violation charge. Tyler Heeren will continue as counsel. Next court dates are a jury trial at 9 a.m. on Aug. 17 preceded by a pre-trial conference at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 11. Bond on each offense is $1,000 cash or surety.

• Nykeisha Antoinette Thomas made an initial appearance on a contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order charge. Emily Swartz is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 3. Bond on each offense is $1,000 cash or surety. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• David K. Fowler made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 10. Bond on each offense is $1,000 cash or surety.

• Randall Joseph Murrieta made an initial appearance on a unlawful possession of a prescription drug charge and a theft-fourth degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Aug. 7. Murrieta was released on his promise to appear.

• Robert Terrell Kluck made an initial appearance on a carrying weapons charge and a control of a firearm by someone convicted of a domestic assault charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 28. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

Incidents

• On Tuesday, a citizen reported the theft of a motor vehicle from the 1700 block of South Fifth Street.

• On Tuesday, a business at the Marshalltown Mall reported a case involving shoplifting.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Kevin Eugene Leonard was arrested on a warrant.

• On Wednesday, Joseph Wade Bown was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Randall Joseph Murrieta was arrested for unlawful possession of a prescription drug and theft-fourth degree.

• On Tuesday, Logan Andrew Calkins was arrested for criminal mischief-fifth degree.

• On Tuesday, Jacob Lee Catherwood was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Michael Warren was arrested for littering.

• On Tuesday, Michael Day was arrested for speeding and operating while under the influence-second offense.

• On Tuesday, Nykeisha Thomas was arrested for violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Salud Castillo was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Russell Gentry Jr. was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Justin Dean Bohlen was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, a vehicle driven by Janice Ruth Bolkema, of Sheldon, was northbound on Hart Avenue at the intersection with Highway 330 when it pulled away from the stop sign to turn northbound and collided with the driver’s side rear on a car driven by Joan Margaret Pfantz, of Melbourne, which was finishing a left turn from Highway 330 to Hart Avenue. No injuries were reported. Bolkema was cited for failure to yield the right of way. Damage to the Bolkema vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the Pfantz car received an estimated $3,500 in damage.

• On Sunday, July 16, a car driven by Mickelle Merlayne Conrad-Malloy, of State Center, was southbound on Vance Avenue when it came to a curve in the roadway, the driver panic braked and over-corrected resulting in the car going out of control, entering the west ditch and overturning coming to rest on its top. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Conrad-Malloy car was estimated at $3,000.
