• Codey Ryan Briley made an initial appearance on a vehicular homicide charge, a no valid driver’s license charge and a failure to obey a traffic control device charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 15. Bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety.

• Jeremiaha Joe Harrelson made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-first offense charge and two counts of a child endangerment charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 23. Harrelson is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 24 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. No-contact orders have been issued for the three protected parties.

• James Applegate made an initial appearance on an extradition request from Indiana. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The extradition hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Applegate is being held without bond.

• Kyle Howard Braddock made an initial appearance on an operating while intoxicated-second offense charge and a driving under suspension charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 23. Braddock is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Tyson Jeffrey Finders made an initial appearance through counsel, Jeffrey Hazen, on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge. The preliminary hearing is waived by counsel. Finders is to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

• Marcus Roland Woerner made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. Woerner pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 plus a civil penalty of $25, due within 30 days.

• Joel Dubilo made an initial appearance on a no insurance-accident charge and a failure to yield upon entering a highway charge. Dubilo pleaded guilty to both charges. On the no insurance charge the fine is $500 with $175 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $735. The fine on the failure to yield charge is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195. All payments are due within 30 days.

• On Saturday, March 3, a burglary was reported in the 400 block of Melody Lane.

• On Friday, March 2, a theft using a forged check was reported in the 100 block of West Anson Street.

• On Friday, March 2, a theft was reported in the 300 block of South First Avenue.

• On Friday, March 2, vandalism was reported in the 200 block of North First Street valued between $1,000 – $10,000 in damage.

• On Saturday, March 3, Raul Ramirez-Avalos, 44, was cited for using an electronic communications device and failure to obey a stop or yield sign.

• On Sunday, March 4, Jeremiaha Harrelson, 30, was arrested for child endangerment and domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.

• On Sunday, March 4, Alberto Cervantes Jr., 19, was arrested for possession of alcohol under legal age limit-first offense.

• On Sunday, March 4, Jose Morales, 19, was arrested for possession of alcohol under legal age limit-first offense.

• On Sunday, March 4, Victor Valdez, 20 was arrested for possession of alcohol under legal age limit-first offense.

• On Friday, March 2, Tye Medhaug, 33, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Friday, March 2, Roeles Cavazos, 22, was arrested for criminal mischief-fifth degree, obstruction of emergency communications, assault causing injury-peace officers/others, assault causing injury, interference with official acts inflicts bodily injury, child endangerment, violation of a no-contact order and domestic abuse assault-second offense.

• Marcus Woerner, 54, was arrested for dogs at large.

Accidents

• On Saturday, March 3, a vehicle driven by Eva Gonzalez, 66, of Tama, was exiting a parking spot at Walgreens when it struck the passenger side rear door on a legally parked Honda Civic. No injuries were reported. Gonzalez was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to the Gonzalez vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Honda received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Saturday, March 3, a vehicle driven by Raul Ramirez, 44, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on East Southridge Road while driving and texting when Ramirez went through the stop sign at the intersection with South 12th Avenue running off the road and into the ditch. Ramirez was transported to UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown. Ramirez was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and using an electronic communications device. Damage to the Ramirez vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

• On Sunday, March 4, Jermaine Oden, 20, was arrested for disorderly conduct.

• On Saturday, March 3, Honeida Elizabeth Fernandez, 38, was arrested on a warrant.
