• Adam Dean Bingham, of Ames, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a operating while intoxicated-second offense charge, a providing false identification information charge, an open container charge, a no valid driver’s license charge and a no seat belt charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 1. Bingham is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office by the end of work today. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Rebecca Joan Reeder made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a non-payment/contempt of court charge. Reeder pleaded guilty to the possession charge and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days. Reeder pleaded not guilty to the contempt charge and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 25 in Magistrate Court.

• Juan Sandoval made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge, a driving under suspension charge and a failure to maintain control charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 4. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Terese Marie Odin, of Quarry, made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 29. Odin has a hold on her from Iowa County. The court ordered that Odin be released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and that she report to the adult probation office within 48 hours of release from Iowa County authorities to sign a pre-trial release agreement.

• Raymond Martinez Rodriguez made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge, a possession of marijuana-first offense charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 4. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Stephanie Howell made an initial appearance on a contempt of court charge. Tyler Heeren is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Bond is set at $350 cash only.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke detector activation due to a malfunction at 2306 S. Third Ave., a good intent call to Second Street and Washington Street, a false alarm at 17 N. First St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1211 W. State St., 612 E. Linn St., and 504 W. Church St.
