• Christopher Michael Long made an initial appearance on an indecent contact with a child charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 11. Long is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report as soon as possible to the adult probation office to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Chase Marcus Brown made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-second degree charge, a public intoxication charge, an interference with official acts charge and a spitting in a police vehicle charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 6. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Cody Lippert, of Nevada, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. Joe Cahill will act as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 12. Lippert is released on his promise to appear.

• Alesha Lorraine Sanders made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a failure to use interlock device charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 11. Sanders is released on her promise to appear.

• Manuel Vargas Rosas made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for arraignment hearing on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The arraignment hearing is rescheduled at 1 p.m. on May 31. Vargas Rosas is directed to see his attorney by 11 a.m. today.

• Samantha Jo Cline Hoskins made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an arraignment hearing charge. Christian Stickrod will continue as counsel and is directed to contact Hoskins within 24 hours. The arraignment hearing is rescheduled at 1 p.m. on May 31. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Yosief Tsegezeab Gebrezghabihir was addressed on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference charge. Aron Vaughn will continue as counsel. The pre-trial conference is rescheduled at 9 a.m. on July 19. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

• Sonnie Samantha Terry Wilson made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge. Wilson pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 27 in Magistrate Court.

• Lisa Marie Nauman made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge. Wilson pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 27 in Magistrate Court.

Incidents

• On Friday, a hit and run accident was reported in the 400 block of North Second Avenue.

• On Friday, a burglary was reported in the 900 block of Stegman Boulevard.

• On Friday, two thefts from a motor vehicle were reported to the Marshalltown Police Department.

• On Friday, an animal complaint was made in the 400 block of West State Street.

• On Saturday, a theft of a motor vehicle was reported in the 400 block of West Boone Street.

• On Sunday, May 20, a theft was reported in the 800 block of South Third Avenue.

• On Sunday, a theft, burglary of a motor vehicle and property damage was reported in the 900 block of North Third Avenue.

• On Monday, a case of vandalism was reported in the 100 block of North Second Avenue.

• On Monday, three cases of burglary, damage to property and theft from a motor vehicle were reported in the 500 block of South Second Street.

• On Monday, a theft was reported in the 200 block of Glenda Drive.

• On Tuesday, a hit and run incident occurred in the 500 block of North Third Street.

• On Saturday, Joshua Ostdahl, 25, was arrested for interference with official acts, assault causing bodily injury, domestic abuse assault and child endangerment-no injury.

• On Sunday, Craig Howell, 51, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.

• On Tuesday, Chase Brown, 23, was arrested for criminal mischief-second degree, spitting in a police vehicle and buildings, interference with official acts and public intoxication-first offense.

Accidents

• On May 16, a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old male from Tama was northbound on South Center Street when it collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Mauricio Avalos Flores, 28, of Toledo, pushing it into the rear of a minivan driven by James Ellis Caldwell, 73, of Marshalltown, as he was attempting to turn right into the Marshalltown Mall. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for failure to stop in the assured, clear distance and Avalos Flores was cited for no insurance. Damage to the juvenile’s vehicle and the Caldwell minivan were estimated at $500 each while the Avalos Flores vehicle received an estimated $700 in damage.

• On May 16, a minivan driven by Louis Joseph Kunch, 92, was northbound on South 12th Street attempting to turn left into Rolling Meadows Road when it collided with a minivan driven by Christina Mae Schmidt, 35, of Marshalltown, which was southbound on South 12th Street. No injuries were reported. Schmidt was cited for driving under suspension and Kunch was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn. Damage to the Kunch minivan was estimated at $1,500 while the Schmidt minivan received an estimated $200 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a car driven by Deborah Ann Borton, 57, of Marshalltown, was entering South Sixth Street from an alleyway when it collided with a car driven by 16-year-old male from Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Borton was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to the Borton car was estimated at $2,000 while the juvenile’s car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a car driven by Marlys Murphy Ankrum, 87, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South Center Street attempting a left turn when it collided with vehicle driven by Lenny Stephen Crouse, 52, of Peosta, which was northbound on South Center Street. No injuries were reported. Ankrum was cited for failure to yield upon left turn. Damage to the Ankrum car was estimated at $4,500 while the Crouse vehicle received an estimated $5,500 in damage.

• On Tuesday, Samantha Cline-Hoskins, 29, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

• On Tuesday, Yosief Gebrezghabihir, 40, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.
