Friday

• Arturo Alonso Rico made an initial appearance on a theft-second degree charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 2. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Travis Lee Storjohann made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-second offense charge and a criminal mischief-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 2. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party. If he owns or possesses any firearms, Rico is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office immediately and make arrangements to surrender them.

• Michael V. Sanders Jr. made an initial appearance on a trespass-first degree charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. Aron Vaughn is appointed as counsel. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on July 25 in Magistrate Court. Sanders is released on his promise to appear.

• Sean Gabriel Shickell made an initial appearance on a voluntary absence from custody charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 2. Shickell is being held without bond.

• Deonta D. Brown Jr. made an initial appearance on a failure to maintain control charge and a violation of an instruction permit charge. Brown pleaded guilty to both charges. On the maintain control charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The fine on the instruction permit charge is $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Chad Bratland made an initial appearance on a littering charge. Bratland pleaded not guilty. The pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on July 25.

• Shane L. Charlton made an initial appearance on a rabies vaccination violation charge. Charlton pleaded guilty. On the maintain control charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Michelle Lee Dillon made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Dillon pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 due within 30 days.

• Tammi Kay George made an initial appearance on a striking an unattended vehicle charge and an unsafe backing on highway charge. George pleaded guilty to both charges. On the striking unattended vehicle charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The fine on the unsafe backing charge is $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Donald Gene Hall made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 12. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

Incidents

• On Thursday, a theft was reported in the 100 block of East Webster Street.

Citations

• On Thursday, Dusty Sivilay Savatdy, 23, was cited for no insurance and operation without registration.

Arrests

• On Thursday, Dusty Sivilay Savatdy, 23, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Thursday, Michael Martinez, 33, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Thursday, Michael Sanders, 21, was arrested for theft-fifth degree-shoplifting.

Accidents

• On Thursday, a pickup driven by Anayeli Mozqueda Andrade, 32, of Marshalltown, was northbound on South Center Street at Southridge Road when the driver went through a red light and collided with a car driven by a 17-year-old male from Le Grand. No injuries were reported. Mozqueda Andrade was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Damage to the Mozqueda Andrade pickup was estimated at $500 while the juvenile’s car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Monday, a car driven by a 19-year-old was eastbound on East State Street when it approached North Third Avenue and met a flashing red light. The car continued forward without stopping and collided with the driver’s side of a car driven by Linda Marie Ballard, 61, of Marshalltown, and then left the scene. Ballard was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown by ambulance. The 19-year-old was charged with offense by owner. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $$5,000 each.

• On Friday, a pickup driven by Elena Louise Hinders, 20, of Clemons, was northbound on South Center Street when it came upon slowing traffic and couldn’t stop before colliding with the rear of a car driven by Loretta Ann Werner, 78, of Toledo, pushing it into the rear of a pickup driven by Maria Del Carmen Flores, 42, of Ankeny. No injuries were reported. Hinders was cited for no insurance-accident and Flores was cited for driving under suspension. Damage to the Hinders pickup was estimated at $250 while the Werner car received an estimated $6,000 in damage and the Flores pickup an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, a pickup driven by Connie Jean Quinley, 55, of Grinnell, was attempting to enter South Center Street from a private driveway when it pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by Jennifer Ann Beam, 28, of Gladbrook, resulting in a collision causing the pickup to spin into a vehicle driven by Marcia Jo Winningham, 59, of Kellogg. No injuries were reported. Quinley was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway. Damage to the Quinley pickup and the Winningham vehicle were estimated at $1,500 each while the Beam vehicle received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

June 17

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a fire at 516 N. Third St., a building fire at 207 Taft St., a no incident found upon arrival at 915 S. Eighth Ave., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 2300 Summit Road, two motor vehicle accidents with injuries at Center Street and Lincoln Street and Third Avenue and State Street and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1313 E. Nevada St., 22 N. Center St., 311 Orchard Drive, 1304 W. Boone St., and 601 N. Fifth Ave.

June 16

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a medical assist with the EMS crew to 510 W. Nevada St., and a dispatched/cancelled en route to 2500 Reed Ave.

June 15

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a no incident found upon arrival at 304 N. 11th Ave., two motor vehicle accidents with injuries at 100 N. First Ave., and 10 E. High St., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: South 12th Avenue and Nevada Street, 309 S. 12th Ave., 1408 W. Linn St., 3202 S. 12th St., 122 W. Main St., and 306 Nicholas Drive.

June 14

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call to 2412 Parker Ave., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 606 N. First Ave., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 606 N. First Ave., 304 Melody Lane, 613 N. Third Ave., 1011 S. Center St., 308 Sugar Plum Place, 2003 S. Fourth Ave., and 1619 S. 12th St.

June 13

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a removal of victims from stalled elevator at 2 N. Second Ave., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 2005 Elmcrest Drive, a motor vehicle accident with injuries at Highway 330 and 295th Street, an EMS call excluding vehicle accident with injuries at 208 N. First Ave., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1619 S. 12th St., 211 W. Olive St., 2605 S. Center St., 414 N. Eighth St., and 119 E. State St.

June 12

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a citizen complaint at 12 Santa Barbara Drive and South Center Street, a motor vehicle accident with injuries at Knapp Avenue and 240th Street, a dispatched/cancelled en route to 808 Patterson Lane, a detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 511 E. Church St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 600 May St., 915 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., 707 W. Boone St., 8 S. Ninth St., and 309 N. First St.

June 11

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an authorized controlled burning at 1505 N. Kalsem Blvd., a smoke detector activation due to malfunction at 511 E. Church St., two dispatched/cancelled en routes to 309 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., and 902 W. Lincoln Way, and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 304 1/2 S. Second Ave., 105 E. Webster St., 202 N. Second Ave., 609 W. Church St., 105 S. Fifth St., and 1001 Iowa Ave. W.

June 10

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a search for a person in water at 402 Woodland St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3202 S. 12th St., 109 N. Second St., and 1619 S. 12th St.

June 9

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three dispatched/cancelled en routes to: 610 W. Linn St., 511 S. Seventh Ave., and 2907 S. Sixth St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 511 S. Seventh Ave., 108 S. Second St., 2610 W. Lincoln Way, and 410 W. Linn St.
