• Logan Andrew Calkin made an initial appearance on a harassment-second degree charge and a interference with official acts charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 5. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Rodney Dean Schnacker made an initial appearance on an assault on persons in a certain occupation causing bodily injury charge and a interference with official acts charge. • Tim Ebersole made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge. Ebersole pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Nathan Lucas made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference charge. Lucas waived the 15-day scheduling period and the pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on July 18 in Magistrate Court.

• Mark Judge made an initial appearance through counsel, Jeff Hazen, on a contempt of court-violation of a no-contact order charge. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on July 31 in Magistrate Court. Judge is released on his promise to appear. A photograph and fingerprint order has been issued to be fulfilled within 30 days at the Marshalltown Police Department. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Alexis Valdez made an initial appearance on a drag racing charge and a careless driving charge. Valdez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on July 18 in Magistrate Court.

Accidents

• On Friday, June 22, a minivan driven by Harriett Jean Hall, 66, of Marshalltown, was entering Highway 30 eastbound from an on-ramp when it improperly merged into the left land and collided with a car driven by Rachel Frances Bale, 25, of Newton. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hall minivan was estimated at $1,500 while the Bale car received an estimated $3,500 in damage.

• On Friday, June 22, a car driven by Hay Hman Htu, 18, of Marshalltown, was traveling the wrong way down a traffic aisle at Hy-Vee when it collided with the front of a pickup driven by Cheryl Kay Freel, 58, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Freel pickup was estimated at $1,800 while the Htu car received an estimated $500 in damage.
