Tuesday

• Ignacio Cruz made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. Cruz will hire his own counsel. The probation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

• Jillissa Sue Handorf made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-first offense charge and an interference with official acts charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 29. Handorf is released on her promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Richard Paul Sindt made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Tyler Heeren will continue as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 22. Sindt was released on his own recognizance after complying with a District Associate Court order for a bodily specimen for testing. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

Marshalltown Police Department

Incidents

• On Monday, a theft of a motor vehicle was reported to the Marshalltown Police Department.

• On Monday, a burglary of a motor vehicle was reported in the 200 block of North 13th Avenue.

Arrests

• On Monday, Richard Sindt, 48, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.

• On Monday, Jillissa Handorf, 39, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-first offense and interference with official acts.

• On Monday, Ignacio Cruz, 31, was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, a pickup driven by Adam Samuel Murphy, 30, of Baxter, was turning south onto South Center Street from a driveway when it collided with the back of a camper being pulled by a pickup driven by Todd A. Bennett, 44, of Sheridan, Ill. No injuries were reported. Damage to both the Murphy pickup and Bennett camper were estimated at $1,000 each.

• On Thursday,a pickup driven by Jonathan Lee McKeever, 18, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Rex Ryden Road when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the McKeever pickup was estimated at $1,500.

• On Friday, a car driven by Todd Alan Woodworth, 50, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Third Avenue when a vehicle driven by Luis Javier Mendoza Soto, 24, went through a stop sign on Marion Street and into the path of the Woodworth car resulting in a collision. Mendoza Soto fled on foot from the scene. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Ronald Eugene Holden, 65, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South 18th Avenue stopped at the stop sign with East Main Street and a vehicle driven by Casey Ann Edwards, 24, of Gladbrook, was westbound on East Main Street stopped at the intersection when both vehicles proceeded at the same time resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles were estimated at $1,500 each.

• On Friday, a pickup driven by David Lee Vilez, 72, of Marshalltown, was attempting to parallel park when it backed into a light pole. No injuries were reported. Damage to the light pole was estimated at $750 while the Vilez pickup received an estimated $2,500 in damage.

• On Friday, a car driven by Selena Marie Lopez, 22, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Third Avenue when it veered off the road to the left driving through a yard and striking an alternate parking sign and left the scene. Lopez then called the police to report a hit and run accident, then later recanted saying she that wasn’t being truthful. No injuries were reported. Lopez was cited for driving under suspension and striking highway fixtures. Damage to the Lopez car was estimated at $3,000 while the alternate parking sign received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

• On Sunday, a car driven by Savanah Jo Papiboune, 32, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Bromley Street when is struck a cut tree limb in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Papiboune car was estimated at $2,000.

Accidents

• On Oct. 2, a pickup driven by Kevin Dean Grigg, 60, of Liscomb, was northbound on S75 when it struck a deer exiting the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Grigg pickup was estimated at $1,600.

• On Oct. 1, a car driven by George Wesley Haefner, 18, of Walker, was southbound on Reed Avenue when it collided with the rear of a car driven by a 16-year-old female from Marshalltown as she was trying to turn left into a private driveway. No injuries were reported. Haefner was cited for following too closely. Damage to the Haefner car was estimated at $15,000 while the juvenile’s car received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

Grundy County Sheriff

Accidents

• On Oct. 4, a car driven by a 16-year-old female from Stout was westbound on 160th Street west of T Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the juvenile’s car was estimated at $18,000.

• On Oct. 6, a vehicle driven by Caroline Gibson, 81, of Grundy Center, was eastbound on Highway 175 when it struck a deer that entered the traveled portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Gibson vehicle was estimated at $4,000.
