Rumors are circulating that local residents’ insurance checks earmarked for tornado damage have been stolen from mailboxes.

Capt. Brian Batterson of Marshalltown Police said MPD has not been made aware of any incidents. Regardless, he advised residents to use direct deposit.

Nov. 4

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two dispatched/cancelled en routes to 3 S. Fourth Ave., and 1500 Lincoln Towers Circle, and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 305 Sharon Ave., 1 W. Grant St., 207 Edgeland Drive, 206 W. Grant St., 1400 Lincoln Towers Circle, and 533 N. Third St.

Nov. 3

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an unauthorized burning at 2001 E. Church St., a smoke scare, odor or smoke at 105 W. Boone St., a carbon monoxide detector activation due to malfunction at 302 N. Third St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1511 S. Fifth St., 22 N. First Ave., and 404 Melody Lane.

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 206 Nicholas Drive, and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1505 Summit St., 1706 S. Seventh Ave., 206 N. 13th Ave., and 2315 Campbell Drive.

Nov. 1

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a HazMat release investigation with no HazMat found at 1602 S. Second Ave., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 408 S. Third St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1410 W. Linn St., 402 N. 10th Ave., 1008 E. State St., and 403 N. Center St.

Oct. 31

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two unauthorized burnings at 1500 Summit St., and 1704 Hillcrest Road, and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 504 Edgeland Drive, 1422 W. Linn St., 314 Sharon Ave., 1500 Lincoln Towers Circle and 1301 Summit St.

Oct. 30

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke scare at 1101 S. Seventh Ave., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 2007 Wardview Road and 507 N. First St.

Oct. 29

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two dispatched/cancelled en routes to 204 N. 16th St., and 2500 S. Center St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 203 Thomas Drive, 2501 S. Sixth St., and 1 W. Grant St.
