• Dogale Z. Yugusuk made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a contempt hearing on child support. Breanna Nelson is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only.

• Miguel Angel Rico made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge, an obstructing prosecution or defense charge, a driving under suspension charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, a defective muffler charge, a failure to carry a registration card charge and a no insurance charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. The preliminary hearing on all the other charges is set at 1 p.m. on Dec. 28. Bond is set at $3,000 cash only.

• Nikolay Larry Lanham made an initial appearance on an operating while intoxicated-first offense charge, a driving under suspension charge and a failure to maintain control charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on Jan. 7. Lanham is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Rebecca Joan Reeder made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge and a failure to appear for a contempt hearing charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. The contempt hearing is set at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 7 in Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. Upon release, Reeder is directed to visit her probation officer by the end of the day on Friday.

• Eder Alejandro Cruz Cruz made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Cruz Cruz pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $282.75, due by Jan. 31.

• Kelly Christine Eich made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Eich pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due by Jan. 31.

• Jake Alan Adkins AKA Oldenburger had an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a child support recovery case. Christian Stickrod will continue as counsel. The next hearing is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Jan. 17 in District Court.

Adkins also had an initial on failure to appear on a contempt hearing charge. Christian Stickrod will continue as counsel. The contempt hearing is set for 11 a.m. on Dec. 27 in District Associate Court.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Eder Cruz Cruz, 32, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Wednesday, Kelly Eich, 24, was arrested for theft-fifth degree-shoplifting.

Accidents

• On Monday, a car driven by Jeannie Marie Underhill, 72, of Le Grand, was westbound on LaFrenz Lane stopped at the intersection with South Center Street when the driver proceeded forward making a left turn and colliding with a car driven by Imad Eddine Amenzou, 23, of Marshalltown, which was traveling without headlights. No injuries were reported. Amenzou was cited for failure to use headlamps when required. Damage to the Amenzou was estimated at $1,000 while the Underhill car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

• On Tuesday, , a pickup driven by James Lee Chance, 56, of Zearing, was eastbound on East Nevada Street attempting to turn from the turning lane into the Redemption Center when a car driven by Devin Blaze Jordan, 21, of Marshalltown, came along on his passenger side traveling east resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Chance pickup was estimated at $1,500 while the Jordan car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Miguel Rico, 25, was arrested for failure to carry registration card, defective muffler, driving under suspension, no valid driver’s license, no insurance-accident, obstruction prosecution or defense and two counts of violation of probation.

• On Wednesday, Dogale Yugusuk, 31, was arrested on a warrant charging him with contempt of court.

• On Wednesday, Rebecca Reeder, 42, was arrested on a warrant charging her with contempt of court and violation of probation.

• On Wednesday, Michael Dean Kellett, 27, was arrested on a warrant.
