• Nathan Danner made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-third or subsequent offense charge, a possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 6. Danner is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office by the end of the work day on Tuesday to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Randolph Elliot Timm made an initial appearance on a sex offender registry violation-first offense charge. Timm will act as his own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 28. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Jose Alberto Valdovinos made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• A 16-year-old female made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a curfew violation charge. The juvenile pleaded guilty to both charges. The fine on the driving under suspension charge is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The fine on the curfew violation is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• A 16-year-old female made an initial appearance on a failure to obey a flashing red signal charge. The juvenile pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 20 in Magistrate Court.

• A 16-year-old female made an initial appearance on a curfew violation charge. The juvenile pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Ricky Dustin Hawkins made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 28. Hawkins is released on his promise to appear.

• Trisha Lynn Heintz made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Heintz pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $282.75, due within 30 days.

• Jed Campbell Pothast made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. Pothast will hire his own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 7.

Arrests

• On Thursday, Jose Morales Garcia, 20, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Thursday, Jessica Perez, 29, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Nathan Danner, 45, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Thursday, Leslie Fuller, 49, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-first offense.

Accidents

• On Thursday, a car driven by Kathy Ann Kasner, 55, of Ferguson, was exiting a parking spot at the Animal Clinic when a car driven by Connie Kathryn Beasley, 68, of Garwin, pulled into the parking lot and the Kasner car collided with the Beasley car. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Kasner car was estimated at $500 while the Beasley car received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

• On Wednesday, a car driven by Joel Andrade-Murillo, 32, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Anson Street at the intersection with South Third Avenue when a vehicle driven by Cheyla Yeraldi Urbina-Martinez, 18, of New Hampton, made an left turn colliding with the Andrade-Murillo car and pushing it into a vehicle driven by Jose Luis Beccerra Gutierrez, 51, of Marshalltown, which was pushed into a car driven by Julie Marie Stanton, 59, of Marshalltown. Urbina-Martinez was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown by ambulance. Urbina-Martinez was cited for no valid driver’s license and failure to yield upon a left turn. Damage to the Urbina-Martinez vehicle and the Andrade-Murillo car was estimated at $8,000 each while the Beccera Gutierrez vehicle sustained an estimated $3,500 in damage and the Stanton car an estimated $2,500 in damage.

• On Wednesday, a car driven by Kasaundra Kaylyn Pemberton, 19, of Marshalltown, was exiting a parking spot at Thomas L. Cardella when it collided with a legally parked Nissan Maxima. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Pemberton car was estimated at $2,000 while the Nissan received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Arrests

• On Thursday, Randolph Timm, 64, was arrested for sex offender registry violation-first offense.

• On Thursday, Jose Valdovinos, 25, was arrested on a warrant charging him with violation of probation.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Omar Cruz, 19, of Marshalltown, was arrested in Wellsburg on a Marshall County warrant charging him with parole violation. Cruz was released to the Marshall County authorities.

Accidents

• On Thursday, a vehicle driven by Chasity Bergman, 41, of Reinbeck, was eastbound on Highway 175 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bergman vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

• On Monday, a Jeep driven by Sheila Smith, 50, of Cedar Falls, was eastbound on Highway 20 just east of T-55 when the vehicle went off the roadway in the curve, over corrected, the driver lost control and entered the south ditch where it rolled several times. Smith and a passenger were transported to the nearest hospital. Damage to the Smith Jeep was estimated at $10,000.

• On Monday, a car driven by Keith Balvanz, 66, of Wellsburg, was northbound on J Avenue at 120th Street when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Balvanz car was estimated at $5,000.
