• Brandon Jay Byngelson made an initial appearance on a possession of alcohol under legal age charge and a minor prohibited on certain premises charge. Bryngelson pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 6 in Magistrate Court.

• Amador Guevara made an initial appearance on a possession of alcohol under legal age charge and a minor prohibited on certain premises charge. Guevara pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 6 in Magistrate Court.

• David Spencer made an initial appearance through counsel, Michael Marquess, on two counts of a probation violation charge. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Spencer was released on his promise to appear.

• Riko Andu made an initial appearance on a speeding charge. Andu pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 27 in Magistrate Court.

• Daisy Marie Garcia failed to appear for an initial hearing on a driving under suspension charge, a failure to use headlamps when required charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The court entered a guilty plea on Garcia’s behalf. The fine on the driving under suspension charge is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $402.50. The fine on the headlamp charge is $30 with a $10.50 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $105.50. The fine for the no valid driver’s license is $200 with a $70 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $335. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Harlan Laroy Hickman failed to appear for an initial hearing on a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance-accident charge and a failure to maintain registration plate charge. The court entered a guilty plea on Hickman’s behalf. The fine on the driving under suspension charge is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $402.50. The fine for the no insurance-accident charge is $500 with a $87.50 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $740.50. The fine for the no valid driver’s license is $20 with a $7 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of 92. All payments are due within 30 days.

Wednesday

• William D. Fricke made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-second offense charge and a driving while revoked charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 12. Fricke is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Adrian Lavon Kincade made an initial appearance on an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Feb. 12. Kincade was released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Justin Scott Zitzow made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a trial charge and for two new charges of unauthorized use of a credit card charge and an identity theft charge. The public defender’s office is assigned for all cases. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 1:30p.m. on Feb. 8. A preliminary hearing on the new charges is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 12. Zitzow is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office by the end of work on Jan. 25 to sign a pre-trial release agreement.

• Amanda Jo Moore made an initial appearance through counsel, Katherine Sears, on an operating while intoxicated-first offense charge and a failure to maintain control charge. The preliminary hearing is waived. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Deano Puccio made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no insurance charge. Puccio pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 6 in Magistrate Court.

• Jose Morales Garcia made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Morales Garcia pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 20 in Magistrate Court.

• Jose Cruz made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia Carthage. Cruz pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $282.75, due within 30 days.

• Miguel Angel Gutierrez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a speeding charge. Gutierrez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 20 in Magistrate Court.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Justin Zitzow, 22, was arrested for identity theft, unauthorized use of a credit card and on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Adrian Kincade, 41, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury.

Accidents

• On Thursday, a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old male from Marshalltown was pulling into a parking spot at Marshalltown High School when it hit a patch of ice and slid into a legally parked Honda Civic. No injuries were reported. Damage to the juvenile’s vehicle was estimated at $50 while the Honda Civic received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, a car driven by Devon Ray-Lee Viles, 20, of Conrad, was eastbound on East Boone Street when it failed to obey the yield sign at the intersection with South Eighth Avenue and collided with a van driven by Carlos Castellanos-Zepeda, 54, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Viles was cited for failure to obey a yield sign and yield the right of way while Castellanos-Zepeda was cited for no insurance-accident and no valid driver’s license. Damage to the Castellanos-Zepeda van was estimated at $2,000 while the Viles car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, a vehicle driven by Ah Phong Mada Nhkum, 49, of Marshalltown, was exiting the US Bank parking lot going left onto North Second Street when it turned in front of a vehicle driven by Thomas Randall McCoy, 58, of Marshalltown, which was exiting the Farmers Savings Bank drive-thru. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Nhkum vehicle was estimated at $5,000 while the McCoy vehicle received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Sunday, a car driven by Cheryl G. Holmes, 66, of Clanton, Ala., was southbound on Third Street when it went through a stop sign and collided with a vehicle driven by Ivan Garcia Torres, 19, of Marshalltown, resulting in Holmes airbag deploying obstructing her view and Holmes car colliding with a car driven by Jesus Alonzo Corona, 20, of Marshalltown, which was sitting at a stop sign facing north on Third Street. No injuries were reported. Holmes was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Alonzo Corona and Garcia Torres vehicles was estimated at $500 each while the Holmes car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

Arrests

• On Thursday, Andrez Marcoz Magana, 39, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, William Fricke, 58, was arrested for driving while license is revoked and operating while under the influence-second offense.

• On Tuesday, Delilah Elaine Mauskemo,33, was arrested on a warrant.

Jan. 20

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a medical assist with the EMS crew to 3202 S. 12th St. and excessive heat, scorch burns-no ignition at 1407 S. Seventh Ave.

Jan. 19

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 210 S. Sixth St., 710 Noble St., 604 S. Eighth Ave., 5 W. North St., 402 N. 10th Ave., 706 Fremont St. and 208 Glenda Drive.

Jan. 18

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 915 Turner St., 2609 S. Center St., 706 Fremont St. and 408 W. High St.

Jan. 17

Jan. 14

• The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a building fire at 3210 Merritt Road and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 18th Avenue and Highway 30, 1209 Iowa Ave. West, 703 E. Linn St., 3120 S. Second St., 207 E. Olive St. and 403 N. Center St.
