• Miguel Angel Miranda Lopez made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 25. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Austin Leo Bollas failed to appear for an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a operating without registration charge. The court found Bollas guilty on both counts. The fine on the driving under suspension charge is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The fine on the on the operating without registration is $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50. All payments are due within 30 days.

Accidents

• On Friday, , a car driven by Travis Dale-Carl Stewart, 26, of West Des Moines, was westbound on West Main Street at the intersection with Third Street when the driver lost control sliding into the intersection and colliding with a car driven by Christine Marie Osgood, 25, of Marshalltown. Osgood complained of pain in her arm, but refused medical treatment. Stewart was cited for no insurance-accident and failure to maintain control. Damage to both cars was estimated at $2,000 each.

• On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Sonia Ramirez, 38, of Marshalltown, was northbound on South Center Street stopped at the intersection with Main Street when it proceeded forward and collided with passenger side of a car driven by Jordyn Michelle Moore, 18, of Marshalltown which was eastbound on Main Street. No injuries were reported. Moore was cited for no valid driver’s license. Damage to the Moore car was estimated at $3,500 while the Ramirez vehicle received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Saturday, a pickup driven by Cary Adelbert Nason, 56, of Marshalltown, was pulling out of a parking lot onto North Third Avenue when it collided with a vehicle driven by Lisa Lynn Clifford, 48, of Eldora. No injuries were reported. Nason was cited for unsafe entry onto sidewalk or roadway. Damage to the Nason pickup was estimated at $2,000 while the Clifford vehicle received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Sunday, , a Jeep driven by an unknown driver struck an outside air conditioning unit on Plaza Heights Road knocking it over. Damage to the Jeep was estimated at $1,000 while the air conditioning unit received an estimated $2,500 in damage.
