Court — Monday

• Nathan Thomas Lucas made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a theft-third degree charge and a driving under suspension charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 1.

• Jeremy Lynn Lavender made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a no insurance charge, a no registration card charge and a driving under suspension charge. Proof of insurance was submitted and the charge was dismissed with court costs of $60 assessed. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel on the rest of the charges. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 1. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Jesus Rangel made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The insurance charge was dismissed when proof of insurance was supplied with court costs of $60 assessed. Rangel pleaded guilty to the driver’s license charge and was fined $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Robert William Meling made an initial appearance on a striking unattended vehicle charge. Meling pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 27 in Magistrate Court.

• Sheylynn M. Davis made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. A scheduling hearing is set at 1 p.m. on Feb. 25. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

Incidents

• On Sunday, two burglaries were reported in the 300 block of North First Street.

• On Sunday, a burglary was reported in the 400 block of North Center Street.

• On Monday,, a hit and run accident was reported at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Woodland Street.

Citations

• On Saturday, Ryan David Tish, 33, was cited for operation without registration, striking fixtures, no valid driver’s license and no insurance-accident.

Arrests

• On Friday, Aaron Krause, 28, was arrested on a warrant from another county.

• On Saturday, Ryan Tish, 33, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

• On Saturday, Kelly McGlothlen, 33, was arrested for driving under suspension and operating while under the influence-first offense.

• On Sunday, Shane Rose, 41, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant.

• On Sunday, Miguel Garcia, 18, was arrested for public intoxication-first offense and disorderly conduct.

Accidents

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Jose Avalos Martinez, 64, of Marshalltown, was exiting a parking lot onto Swayze when it collided with the driver’s side of a car driven by Jonathan Olawa Diomi, 26, of Marshalltown, which was westbound on Swayze Street. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Diomi car was estimated at $2,000.

• On Saturday, a car driven by Ryan David Tish, 33, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Summit Street when the driver attempted to make a right turn onto North 11th Street and left the roadway striking the city-owned stop sign. No injuries were reported. Tish was cited for no valid driver’s license, no insurance-accident, operation without registration and striking fixtures upon a highway. Damage to the Tish car was estimated at $5,000 while the city stop sign received an estimated $500 in damage.

• On Saturday, co Ordaz-Chavarria, 71, was exiting a driveway onto Westwood Drive when it struck the passenger side rear fender of a Chevy Tahoe. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,500 each.

• On Saturday, Luis Mendez, 29, was arrested for controlled substance violation-first offense.
