• Heidi Renae Smith made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-first offense charge and a failure to maintain control charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 19. Smith is released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Elizabeth Rae Tacconi made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only.

• Miguel Angel Vidales Mendez made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a violation of pre-trial release. Pre-trial release is revoked and a bond of $1,000 cash or surety is instated. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel for the new drug charges. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 8. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Jeremiah Vansice made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

• Natalie Jean Purdy made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no registration charge. Purdy pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 27 in Magistrate Court.

• Marsha Gail Darby made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge. Darby pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 27 in Magistrate Court.

• Austin Leo Bollas failed to appear for an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. The court found Bollas by default and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

Arrests

• On Friday, Elizabeth Tacconi, 19, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Nicholas Glenn, 31, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Miguel Vidales Mendez, 23, was arrested for possession of marijuana-first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Jeremiah Vansice, 40, was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Thursday, a car driven by Timothy Dean Ebersole, 59, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on East Southridge Road in the inside lane when he attempted to turn right into Plaza Drive and collided with a vehicle driven by 17-year-old male from Union driving in the outside lane. No injuries were reported. Damage to the juvenile’s vehicle was estimated at $3,000 while the Ebersole car received an estimated $500 in damage.

• On Thursday, a car driven by a 17-year-old male from Marshalltown was westbound on Woodbury Street when it went around an illegally parked vehicle and then began sliding and struck a legally parked Chevy Silverado. No injuries were reported. Damage to the juvenile’s car was estimated at $1,500 while the Chevy Silverado received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, a car driven by Tiffany Ann Davis, 26, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Eighth Avenue approaching the intersection with Marion Street when the driver couldn’t stop at the stop sign because of the road conditions and the car slid into the trailer being pulled by a semi driven by Mark David Enyart, 31, of Clermont. No injuries were reported. Davis is cited for failure to stop in the assured, clear distance. Damage to the Enyart trailer was estimated at $300 while the Davis car received an estimated $4,000 in damage.
