Court — Thursday

• John Paul Hulin, of Green Mountain, made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-impeding the flow of air or blood charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 12. Hulin is released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Eric Maurice Mayes Sr. made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Robert Daniel Needs, of Laurel, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a operating while intoxicated-third or subsequent offense charge and a no insurance charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on March 11. Needs is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Kordell Kenneth Cripps made an initial appearance on a warrant charging him with failure to appear for an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Cripps pleaded guilty and the fine was $250 with an $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Christopher Allen Peak, of Waterloo, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Peak pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with an $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

Incidents

• On Wednesday, two hit and run accidents were reported in the 400 block of North Second Avenue.

Citations

• On Wednesday, Jose Angel Aguilera Chairez, 20, was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.

Arrests

• On Thursday, Blaze Krough, 19, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Wednesday, Christopher Peak, 28, was arrested for driving under suspension and on a warrant from another county.

• On Wednesday, Jose Angel Chairez, 20, was arrested for driving under suspension.

Accidents

• On Feb. 12, a vehicle driven by Brenda Lynn Starn, 52, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Bromley Street approaching North Eighth Avenue when the driver attempted to stop and as a result of the road conditions it slid past the stop sign and into the path of a car driven by David Gomes, 23, of Marshalltown resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Starn vehicle was estimated at $1,500 while the Gomez car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Wednesday,, a minivan driven by Jamie Lee Lopez, 30, of Marshalltown, was driving around the corner of Reyclif Drive and Garland Drive when the driver lost control on the slick road conditions and struck a legally parked Chevy Malibu. No injuries were reported. Lopez was cited for driving under suspension, operation without registration and no insurance-accident. Damage to the Lopez minivan was estimated at $1,000 while the Chevy Malibu sustained an estimated $2,500 in damage.
